Travel to Palermo and sample the finest cuisineAcross Palermo, the Street Food Fest extended from Porta Felice to the intersection of Corso Vittorio Emanuele and all the way to via Roma, Piazza Marina and the old district of Cassaro. Palermo was transformed into a gastronomic village as the Street Food Fest showcased the finest food from around the world.

This Christmas season, the Street Food Fest was open for ten days. Over these ten days, the Streed Food Fest was home to a range of cooking shows, music and more. Palermo became a celebration of street food as children and adults sampled delicacies from around the world.

This exciting festival is one of the rare moments in Sicily where visitors could purchase London fish and chips, Mexican burritos or pad thai, all from the centre of Palermo. The diversity this year was incredible with Italian delicacies alongside iconic dishes from around the world. You could find French desserts, such as crepes, sitting comfortably alongside American muffins.

The World is your Oyster

This year, those who travel to Palermo for the Street Food Fest discovered the event was about more than just food, with speakers from around the world taking to the stage to engage in debates, present talks and host conferences. The Street Food Fest is easily the main attraction here, but many find themselves learning about history, food tradition and the interesting countries that all the delicious food originated from.

Of the speakers, there were a number of passionate chefs and experts in specific fields, eager to share their stories and knowledge with those ready to listen. One of the main features of this Sicily event was the “Gourmet Space” in Piazza Marina, where a cooking talk show was held. The talk show covered a range of topics, including an eye-opening discussion around cultural analysis.

This year, the 2017 Street Food Fest ran from the 7th to the 17th December and, as you may have guessed, was an event entirely dedicated to street food.
